William Shakespeare once wrote, “The eyes are the window to your soul”. After twenty years of practicing Ophthalmology in Central Louisiana, I can unequivocally say that the eyes often give a clear insight into one’s inner health.
I, as well as my fellow doctors at Louisisana Eye and Laser Center, have the privilege of evaluating and treating many residents of this area. Each patient comes with his or her own unique medical story. The stories can be complex and challenging or quite simple. The stories are all interesting and commonly involve blurred vision. Most frequently we observe vision loss from cataracts, dry eyes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, infection or injury. However, it is not unusual for an eye exam to reveal previously undiagnosed diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, autoimmune disease, stroke or even brain tumors.
Fortunately, there have been a number of recent advances in the treatment of many of the more prevalent ocular diseases including diabetics retinopathy, wet macula degeneration, glaucoma and cataracts. Some of these problems can be treated with medication or with office procedures such as treatment of dry eyes with an amniotic membrane, wet macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy with injections or glaucoma with a laser treatment. Other ocular conditions may require highly successful outpatient surgical procedures like cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery or eyelid surgery.
Luckily, many vision problems can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or refractive surgery. These common solutions to poor vision, as well as comprehensive cosmetic lasers and procedures for the aging eye are all available at Louisiana Eye & Laser Center.
The doctors and staff at Louisiana Eye & Laser Center are eager to use our knowledge and advanced technology to help you write a happy ending to your health story. Please give us a call at 318-487-2020.
