John Cooksey, MD

John Cooksey, M.D. served 3 terms as a United States Congressman. He is an accomplished surgeon and humanitarian. Dr. Cooksey served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He also volunteered in the mission field in East Africa providing healthcare for 6 years and helped in founding an eye clinic in Kenya. 

Dr. Cooksey trained residents from the Ochsner Foundation Hospital and LSU Medical Center in Shreveport in anterior segment eye surgery for 20 years. He earned an Executive MBA from the University of Texas in Austin in 1994. Dr. Cooksey has practiced ophthalmology in Monroe, LA since 1972.
