Brett Bennett, OD

Dr. Brett Bennett is a native of Pineville and joined Louisiana Eye & Laser Center in the summer of 2015. He is an alumnus of Pineville High school where he was passionately involved in football, powerlifting, and theatre/acting.

Dr. Brett Bennett received his bachelor of science in biology and a chemistry minor from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. During his time at ULM, he was involved with several leadership roles including Baptist Collegiate Ministry, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and Hometown Hawks. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. During his time at the University of Houston, he was awarded several clinical letters of excellence, he was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa fraternity, and was a Student Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

Dr. Bennett enjoys giving ocular care and eye exams to all patients of all ages. His specialties include: ocular disease/pathology, specialty lenses, pediatrics, traumatic brain injury patients, and special needs patients. Brett currently serves as the Assistant Director of Optometry at Louisiana Eye and Laser Center, which is one of the largest practices in Louisiana.

A new passion Dr. Bennett has found is teaching 4th year optometry students as an adjunct professor of the University of Houston College of Optometry. It is another way that he can give back to the profession that has been so good to him.

Dr. Bennett is the current President Elect of the Optometry Association of Louisiana (OAL) . He has previously served as Secretary/Treasurer of the OAL & central society president/chair for 4 years.

He is a founding member of the OAL Leadership Institute, which will be good for anyone who wants to leave optometry better than they found it in Louisiana. Dr. Bennett was awarded Louisiana’s Young OD of the year in 2024.

When not helping people’s eyes he enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He also enjoys working out, hunting, fishing, and frisbee golf.
