Dr. Fatima Qureshi’s impressive journey in the field of medicine began with a completion of her medical degree at Dow Medical College in Pakistan, where she earned clinical honors in both Internal Medicine and General Surgery. Her profound interest in ophthalmology led her to the United States, where she was accepted into a highly competitive MD/OD program at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) in Boston, Massachusetts – a specialized program designed for foreign-trained MDs. Out of numerous global applications, Dr. Qureshi was among the elite seven selected. During her time in Boston, she underwent extensive internships at institutions like Lahey Clinic Medical Center, a top medical school, and was privileged to learn from esteemed faculty from Harvard Medical School and MIT. Her training was further augmented with advanced training in eye surgeries at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma.
Beyond her formal education, Dr. Qureshi has always believed in a holistic approach to patient care. Drawing from her dual doctorate degrees, she treats ocular pathologies through a systemic disease approach, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care that looks beyond just their eyes. This dedication to her craft has seen her thrive in Ophthalmology/Optometry private practices and win accolades such as the Award for Excellence in Vision Therapy by the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and honors in Pediatric Optometry. Her motto, “passion with compassion,” is evident in her commitment to being accessible and ensuring her patients always feel comfortable and at ease.
Outside her demanding profession, Dr. Qureshi is a passionate traveler, with Paris, Switzerland, Egypt, Dubai, and London among her favorite destinations. A strong believer in maintaining a balance between mind, body, and soul, she regularly engages in jogging, yoga, Pilates, kickboxing, and hiking. She is also an active member of the American Optometry Association and the Acadiana Optometric Society.
